Tips for Safe Lawn Mowing When Kids Are On the Scene

All of us at Lawn Enforcement are sticklers about safety.  We want to remind you that lawn mowers can be dangerous, especially when kids are on the scene.

About a year ago, a boy in Indiana nearly died in a lawn mower accident.  The boy lost two toes and had to have extensive surgeries to repair damage to his leg. His father doesn’t want another family to experience the same pain, and is sharing a special safety message for parents everywhere.

His message:  “No matter what the circumstances are, no matter how bad a kid screams and hollers, don’t put them on the tractor seat with you!”

This is a critically important tip for all Wichita lawn mowing professionals and do-it-yourselfers to remember!

If you’re like me, you probably have fond memories of riding on the tractor with your dad or grandpa, and you want your kids to have those memories, too.  But, unfortunately, things can go wrong, and as the old saying goes, “it’s better to be safe than sorry.”

Other things to consider to ensure a safe mow are:

  • Look behind you before putting your mower in reverse
  • Clear the yard of all debris and toys
  • Wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and eye and ear protection
  • Keep children at a safe distance

Be safe out there, everyone!  Do you have additional lawn mowing safety tips to share?
